Our approach

How we teach Mathematics

Maths marks come from practice and method. Our maths tutors break each question type into clear steps, show you where method marks are awarded, and then drill you on timed exam questions until the steps are automatic.

Separate a gap in understanding from an arithmetic slip. Explaining each algebraic step makes it easier to see which operation needs practice before moving to a timed question.

Topics covered

  • Number & algebra
  • Functions & graphs
  • Geometry & trigonometry
  • Vectors & transformations
  • Probability & statistics
  • Calculus (A Level)
  • Mechanics (A Level)

Try a practice question

Solve and check a linear equation

An original learning exercise, not an official exam question.

Solve 3(2x − 5) = 21.

Show the worked answer
  1. Divide both sides by 3: 2x − 5 = 7.
  2. Add 5 to both sides: 2x = 12.
  3. Divide by 2: x = 6. Substitute back: 3(12 − 5) = 21.

x = 6. Substitution confirms that the original equation is satisfied.

Common mistake: If you expand the brackets instead, multiply both terms: 3(2x − 5) = 6x − 15, not 6x − 5.
